First introduced in 1986, the 1oz Australian Kangaroo is minted by Perth Mint.\n\nOften referred to as the Nugget, the Kangaroo initially featured an image of a gold nugget on its reverse and was changed to a kangaroo three years later. The design has been rotated every year since.\n\nThe coin's obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II designed by either Raphael Maklouf, Ian Rank-Broadley or Jody Clark; depending on the year of mint.
